Fukoku Bussan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Ota-ku, Tokyo / President & CEO: Mie Kibe; hereinafter “the Company”) is pleased to announce that it has completed the establishment of a joint venture company with Hemicellulose Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kawasaki, Kanagawa / President & CEO: Jin Nasukawa; hereinafter “Hemicellulose”) for the purpose of constructing a bioplastic mass-production plant utilizing waste plant materials.
This joint venture will combine the Company’s business foundation and networks in the automotive and industrial sectors with Hemicellulose’s technology and expertise for producing bioplastic materials from waste plant biomass and unused sugars (trademarked as “HEMIX”). The objective is to enable mass production and stable supply of bioplastic materials within Japan and to achieve business growth in the global market, where demand is expanding as part of climate change countermeasures.
Going forward, both companies aim to leverage their strengths to enhance customer value and achieve sustainable growth.
